As a historic shore town with one of the best beaches in the state, Asbury Park, New Jersey, is a popular artsy, culturally diverse and LGBTQ friendly community. It was developed in 1871 as a resort town, and today continues to be, with much revitalization and restoration of its boardwalk and waterfront development taking place. Since 2007, the seaside town has added shops, restaurants, and hotels to its 1.5 mile boardwalk, along with restoring the historic Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall. Because of its beautiful beaches, vibrant art and music scene, and the 70-foot wide Asbury Park Boardwalk, the community was named as the “Coolest Small Town in America 2017”, by Budget Travel. In 1973, Bruce Springsteen released his debut album “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.”, as the early years of his career was spent here. What Is Special about Asbury park
Asbury Park is a small waterfront community that is very artsy, diverse, LGBT friendly, and has beautiful beaches. USA Today named Asbury Park as one of the top ten places to listen to music, and it is home to two theatre companies. New York City and Philadelphia are nearby with daily train or bus service.
What Is Not Special about Asbury park
The cost of living is high here, and the crime rate is higher than the national average. Hurricane Sandy did some damage in 2012, (although the boardwalk was reopen for business by the summer of 2014, with President Barack Obama participating in the ceremony).

The very walkable community hosts many festivals and events year-round, and there are theaters with Broadway productions and concerts.
